Radar: White Hills

Wednesday May 27, 2026

Wednesday May 27, 2026

I recently spoke with Dave W. and Ego Sensation of White Hills. For nearly two decades, White Hills have been gifting us with a unique mix of neo-psychedelia, art rock, and post-punk. Their first release was shepherded by Julian Cope, you've seen them in Jim Jarmusch's sultry vampire romance Only Lovers Left Alive as the band in the Detroit club, and they've collaborated with Martin Bisi often. They are both consummately New York while also holding the borderless spirit of all true artists.
The duo has toured vigorously since their inception and have recorded over fifty releases, which include 12 full-length studio albums and numerous collaborations, EPs, and live records. The latest, Leave This World Behind, came out in March on their own label, Heads On Fire Industries. Five tracks built around a Sonic Rituals live series they're performing through 2026.
We talked about how Dave and Ego met, the birth of the band, and the deeply grounded and spiritual point of view that this light filled and heavy music is born of.
You'll be able to catch them in San Francisco on June 7th for the second of their Sonic Rituals this year. A deluxe vinyl edition of rarities entitled Collected Consciousness will arrive in the fall via Argonauta Records, with a new full length coming in early 2027. Follow them at @whitehillsmusic on Instagram and on the web to keep up with the heavy spirit engine.

Radar: Linda Perry

Wednesday May 13, 2026

Wednesday May 13, 2026

I recently spoke with Linda Perry, frontwoman of 4 Non Blondes and one of the most prolific songwriters and producers of the past three decades. After "What's Up?" became an era-defining hit in 1993, Linda stepped behind the boards and wrote and produced some of the biggest songs in pop music: Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful," Pink's "Get the Party Started," Alicia Keys' "Superwoman," plus work with Dolly Parton, Adele, Miley Cyrus, Celine Dion, Ariana Grande, Joan Jett, Courtney Love. She was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2015 and made history in 2019 as the first solo woman nominated for the Grammy's Producer of the Year category in fifteen years.
Now Linda is stepping back to the front. Her first solo album in over 25 years, Let It Die Here, was released May 8, 2026 via Kill Rock Stars/670 Records. The 17-track record is a raw, cinematic reckoning with grief, family, and survival, written and recorded alongside the making of her new documentary of the same name. Linda Perry: Let It Die Here, directed by Don Hardy, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and is rolling out theatrically through Mercury Studios and Evan Saxon Productions: New York on May 8, Los Angeles on May 13, with screenings continuing through May and June in San Francisco, Palm Springs, San Diego, Denver, and London, many featuring live Q&As and acoustic performances from Linda.
We got into all of it. The album, the doc, the catalogue, and what it means to come back. Tune in.
Stream Let It Die Here wherever you listen to music, and head to lindaperry.com for the full documentary screening schedule and ticket info.

Radar: Genre is Death

Tuesday Apr 28, 2026

Tuesday Apr 28, 2026

Today on Radar - I recently spoke with Genre is Death, an uncompromising noise duo made up of Ty Varesi (guitar, vox) and Tayler Lee (bass, vox). They moved to NYC in 2023 looking for something beyond what small town Georgia had to offer. They hit the ground running. A chance encounter with 80s underground stalwarts Live Skull pulled them into the city's noise scene and into orbit with Lydia Lunch and The Art Gray Noizz Quintet. In 2025 they toured with Gogol Bordello and shared stages with Bush Tetras and Jon Spencer. Their debut LP Attractive People is out this Friday on In the Red Records, recorded by Martin Bisi at BC Studio in Gowanus.
We spoke about their beginnings, journey to New York and the making of Attractive People, Tune in.

Radar: Midge Ure - Ultravox

Wednesday Apr 01, 2026

Wednesday Apr 01, 2026

Midge Ure is one of the architects of the sound that defined a generation. As the frontman and creative co-architect of Ultravox, co-writer of "Do They Know It's Christmas?", and the producer behind some of the most enduring records of the new wave era -- including "Fade to Grey" and "Vienna" -- he shaped synth-pop and post-punk at the moment both genres were finding their footing. His fingerprints are all over many eras.
On this episode of Radar, Midge joins us to talk about five decades of making music, and his first new album in twelve years. A Man of Two Worlds is out May 8 on Chrysalis -- sixteen tracks split across two distinct worlds, instrumental and vocal, from one of the most quietly influential figures in modern British music. Ure will tour the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand with North American Dates kicking off on May 8th in Bath. More information can found at www.midgeure.co.uk
Tune in.

Wednesday Mar 04, 2026

I recently spoke with Martin Bisi, the founder of BC Studio in Gowanus, Brooklyn — one of the most storied independent recording spaces in New York history. Martin engineered and produced records for Sonic Youth, Swans, John Zorn, Afrika Bambaataa, and countless others across the no-wave and post-punk underground. We got into Martin’s life views, the relevance of New York culture, and the perils of capitalism.
I encourage you to dive deep into Martin's entire catalogue including his own work as an artist and find him on Instagram at @maritinbisibc to follow along with all his happenings.

Wednesday Jan 28, 2026

I recently spoke with Sergio Rotman. Composer, and saxophonist best known for his work with Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, the influential Argentine ska/rock band. With the Cadillacs he won the Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock/Alternative Performance for Fabulosos Calavera in 1998 — the first time an Argentine band received a Grammy.
Outside the Cadillacs, Sergio led the long-running punk-rock group Cienfuegos.  He’s also collaborated extensively with Mimi Maura — including co-founding her band in 1999.
Along the way he’s recorded and produced with artists such as Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth, Debbie Harry, Mick Jones (The Clash), Big Youth, Los Auténticos Decadentes, Todos Tus Muertos, and Los Cafres. He has also released several solo albums and singles in recent years as Rotman, many of which have been produced by Pablo Martin.
We speak about all his work in these amazing projects plus his life in Buenos Aires. You can catch Sergio at his club in BA, Strummer Bar, where he hosts his Basura Post-Punk nights and on the road with the Cadillacs. Follow him @sergiorotman on insta to discover all his happenings.

I recently spoke with Jason Williamson of Sleaford Mods—frontman, social commentator, author, and actor. Alongside the band’s thirteen albums, Jason has appeared in Peaky Blinders and stars in the new rave-era thriller Game, directed by John Minton and produced by Geoff Barrow (Portishead).
We talk about drugs, therapy, breaking free from addiction, the birth of Sleaford Mods, artistic perspective, live performance, and the new record, Demise of Planet X out on Rough Trade on January 16th. Tune in for a long, open listen

Radar: Godlis

Wednesday Dec 17, 2025

Wednesday Dec 17, 2025

I recently spoke with Godlis — the photographer whose images defined CBGB’s, the Bowery, and downtown New York in the ’70s punk scene. His iconic photographs of the Ramones, Patti Smith, Television, Blondie, Talking Heads, Richard Hell, and many more offered a window into that world that stays with us today. It’s an astonishing record.
We talk about his college years in Boston and when he first picked up a camera. Having that first camera (a Leica) robbed, making his way back to New York, fully realizing his desire to be a defining street photographer, and how he discovered CBGB’s, plus much more.
His books include History Is Made at Night, Godlis Miami, and Godlis Streets, each capturing a different part of the worlds he’s been documenting for decades. All wonderful documents of one of the greatest street photographers of all time.

Wednesday Nov 19, 2025

I recently spoke with Martin Glover, AKA Youth — founding member and bassist of the legendary post-punk band Killing Joke, a pioneering producer, and one of the most influential sonic architects of the last four decades. Beyond his work with the band, he’s shaped the sound of artists across genres — from The Orb, The Verve, and Paul McCartney to Kate Bush, Crowded House, Gina Birch, and Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour — blending experimental, dub, and atmospheric elements into a signature production style. His career bridges punk, mysticism, and radical creativity, making him one of the most singular figures in modern music.
We spoke about dimension-crossing experiences with Killing Joke, writing and production techniques, current work, and worldviews. Tune in.

Radar: Tytti Roto - Modem

Wednesday Nov 05, 2025

Wednesday Nov 05, 2025

I recently caught up with Tytti Roto, who’s been a big part of the Helsinki underground for years — you might know her from Rosettes, Modem, Plastic Tones, or Ty Roxy.
I met Tytti back in September when we played the same Synthicide night, and I was completely blown away by her and her band Modem. They’re a synth-pop duo she started with Ville Valavuo in 2020, drawing on their shared love of the electronic sounds of the ’80s.
When we talked, Tytti was in the studio working on the new Plastic Tones record — her first band — while Modem had just dropped their second full-length, Interface. And knowing her, I’m sure something’s cooking for Ty Roxy too.
Go check it all out:

Ty Roxy via Fonal Records

ICYDNK: I’m Dylan Hundley — artist, performer, co-creator and singer of Lulu Lewis, and all things Darling Black. I also co-host and curate Salon Lulu, a New York-based performance series, and once upon a time appeared in the classic film Metropolitan.
